BRANDI BEINS
Brandi joined the Lynn Institute in 2022 and helped to launch the Hope Strategies division in July of 2023.
Brandi’s interest in the Science of Hope began before she had a name for it. Her experience as a foster parent opened her eyes to the hope-depleting effects of trauma that can follow a person for a lifetime. Her training in trauma-informed care became an invaluable tool in caring for the children in her home. It was also helpful as she served in her church and community. Like most of us, she was utilizing the Science of Hope without realizing it.
When Brandi became a Hope Navigator, she learned how to take trauma understanding to the next level. Hope is the process for moving toward well-being, no matter your history. Two years after becoming a certified Hope Navigator, Brandi also became a certified Trauma-Informed Care Practitioner, and a certified ACEs Trainer. Her passion for the Science of Hope and for being trauma-responsive, bring value and insight to Hope Strategies trainings and programming.
Brandi graduated Summa Cum Laude from Sterling College with a degree in Communications and also in Religious & Philosophical Studies. After college, she married her husband, James. They have 5 amazing kids, 2 cats, 2 dogs, 2 frogs, and a flock of chickens.
“Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all the darkness.”
-Desmond Tutu
The foundation of Hope Strategies’ work is the Science of Hope, a proven concept founded on research designed to propel the achievement of personal, organizational, and collective aspirations forward.
Validated by research, this science is an action-driven mechanism for setting clear goals, identifying multiple pathways, and harnessing the motivation and energy needed to sustain momentum for the journey.
By integrating the principles of hope with evidence-based practices, robust frameworks can be created to support individuals, families and communities navigating struggles, change, or new opportunities. The Science of Hope also incorporates a strong emphasis on the importance of trauma-informed approaches that consider Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) as well as other contributing factors that may diminish hope.
The Science of Hope is profoundly impacting people from all walks of life, organizations of every type, and communities across our state.

Creating and Sustaining Healthy, Hopeful Communities
Hope Strategies is a division of the Lynn Institute for Healthcare Research, a nonprofit private operating foundation committed to helping fellow Oklahomans improve their health and well-being. We focus on underserved, at-risk communities through investing in and supporting their efforts to improve all dimensions of health and increase hope among its residents. The Lynn Institute facilitates collective impact by convening customers and stakeholders to develop shared agendas, mutually beneficial strategies, common measures of success, and a culture of trust, equity, and respect. Where resource and programmatic gaps exist, we provide collaborative leadership, primary and secondary research, and program development and support to impact vulnerable communities.
The Lynn Institute offers several initiatives that provide free educational opportunities, health screenings, and food distributions. In addition to Hope Strategies, we also manage the Lynn Institute Community Garden at Expand Energy, which provides food for local residents.
